electrum import vs sweep
(Malware, Attack) Electrum DDoS botnet reaches 152,000 infected hosts.
I do the same thing as you do - back up, export private keys and try to import them into blockchain, bitcoinqt, electrum, armory, etc. But to no avail.
To prevent this, it is more secure to sweep your private key into a new public address in your newly created wallet. This requires creating a transaction that emptys the balance of the old wallet and then sending the funds to the new private/public key pair that you know only. Most unmanaged wallets, including Ledger, Trezor, Exodus, Electrum, Samourai, and Metamask, let you clean your wallet, drain your wallet and summarize your balance into a new wallet.
According to Johnwick.io, we will continue to monitor and track the further flow of funds after a recent user submitted a coin-losing incident claiming that the download used an Electrum wallet had been phishing and that more than 700 bitcoins had been lost, and that the stolen address had been added to the Devi AML system. Devi Security Labs is here to remind users not to install unknown sources of Electrum wallets, to avoid asset losses. Slow Fog: Bitcoin Wallet Electrum updates the phishing theft that continues.
According to slow fog zone news, Electrum fake upgrade tips of the phishing attack has stolen at least 200 BTC, this attack by upgrading Electrum alone can not be avoided, the need for the entire ecological service to make corresponding changes (because Electrum this client is not a full node, and then on the transaction broadcast and the corresponding service side of the message communication, attackers can also deploy malicious server). Slow fog zones remind users that phishing attacks like Electrum require long-term vigilance. The slow fog zone has previously issued an alert for selectrum phishing updates, and hackers who attacked Electrum wallets used Electrum's software to unusually construct malicious software update prompts to induce users to update and download malware usage.
In Voegtlein's speech, Thomas Voegtlein announced that Electrum would be added.
